Every journey has several turning points.
In my life, perhaps the most significant was the kick-off to my wellness journey, and I would like to focus on that.
I retired at the age of 46 when I was at the top of a high-pressure business career.
By that time, I had served more than 20 years in the fast-moving world of telecommunications, starting in 1981 at Ericsson Sweden. Subsequently I was General Manager of Ericsson Turkey for many years. In 1993, I played a central role in the creation of Turkcell - now Turkey’s leading GSM operator. I also helped launch other ventures across the region and spent over a decade on the boards of telecom companies and their international operations, besides my management role at Ericsson.
It was an exhilarating time—building companies, innovating, and leading at scale.
I wasn't 'unwell' in any conventional sense, but after two decades I began to sense that it was time for a new direction. And in 2002, a friend encouraged me to take a different kind of holiday. By then, I had already traveled widely, seen the world's greatest sights, enjoyed extraordinary experiences, and tasted the finest food—so I decided to try something entirely new: my first-ever wellness holiday. There, I encountered wellness experts, and a Japanese fellow guest. The experts told me “You are not fully functional. You are handicapped.” At first, I tried to negotiate. I thought I was fine—I was highly functional, successful, and full of energy. But I soon became absolutely convinced that full functionality and true wellness are different things. To complete this kick-off, my Japanese friend gave me a list of locations and to-dos that would render me wellness-literate.
And so began my personal wellness journey—an exploration of every dimension of what we call health. I started with the basics: breathing, chewing, moving, nutrition. Then came the nourishment of spirit and soul—meditation, yoga, and ancient mindfulness practices. That’s how I discovered how to live well… and how to stay well.
My wellbeing journey deepened after I joined my first detox and cleansing program and continued for almost 2 months at home. The results—renewed energy, health and lasting weight loss, brighter skin, better sleep, easier digestion, and a lighter mood—were unlike anything my previous life and success had ever given me.
Curious, I traveled the world exploring alternative health practices. Vipassana meditation transformed my mental clarity and emotional balance. I learned that wellness isn’t just about fixing what’s broken—it’s about living in a way that allows the body, mind, and spirit to thrive.
What surprised me most was this: you don’t have to retreat from the world to live well. Small, intentional changes—in how you eat, how you move, and the environment you shape—can dramatically improve your life. At first, I shared these insights with family and friends. Soon, the idea spread further.
That’s how, in 2005, TheLifeCo Wellbeing was born—a place that brings together holistic therapies, natural treatments, modern science, and ancient wisdom to help people live healthier, more vibrant lives. Today, more than 60% of our guests come from abroad, mostly from Europe, and TheLifeCo is internationally recognized for its results-driven approach.
I hold an MSc in Electronic Engineering from Linköping University and an MBA from Uppsala University in Sweden. But the most valuable thing I carry is the conviction—born from my own transformation—that no matter where you start, you can choose a healthier, more fulfilling life.
And that’s why I’m still here—still learning, still sharing, still helping others take their next healthy step.
